Surviving Loss After Loss

There’s so much loss connected to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy…and so much grief. How can one possibly move forward when the world changes so much with each and every loss?

Michael C. Schiavo, a young man with Duchenne, has experienced plenty of losses and grief himself. In his article from The Mighty entitled The Most Important Thing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Has Taught Me About Grief, he shares some of those experiences and the choices that followed.

There’s so much honesty, reflection and wisdom in this article. One of my favorite lines from the article is, “It takes far greater courage and strength to grieve the loss of what you love instead of hiding from it.” It’s a must-read.

Thank you, Michael, for offering a path for those of us who feel so lost in this grief.
